With less than two years on the Web serving the traveling public, Home&Abroad has already become an industry leader in online itinerary planning. But this is no surprise to us. The site was born out of a year-long, around-the-world trip our CEO, Mark Schroeder, took with his family in 2003-04, when he experienced first hand the trials, tribulations, and headaches of organizing such a grand adventure. With that experience behind him, he founded Home&Abroad as the resource he didn't have, but wished he did. Since then, Home&Abroad has grown into something no web-surfing, would-be-traveler should leave home without using. Our unique, web-based Trip Planner, allows users to research and plan out their trips free of charge, from beginning to end, with the ease of a few mouse clicks. When we launched in March 2006 in a back-street Boulder, CO office, it was with a solid year of work behind us, 50 destinations completed, and the backing of a partnership with Expedia. Instead of taking that milestone as an opportunity to tan our laurels and use the Trip Planner for our own much needed vacations (well, okay, maybe there were a few short trips taken--this is an office full of travel nuts, after all), we got busy, and now can boast more than 90 destinations (with more on the way), an even smarter itinerary-building engine, and will soon be launching an all new, more user-friendly design.
Our mission is to put the personal touch back into online itinerary planning, take some of the expense out, and become the indispensable travel planning and purchasing tool of wanderers worldwide. Additional partnerships with such notable websites as Amazon, Go Card, Viator, Opentable, and Tourcaster, to name only a few, have allowed us to offer even more services to our users, moving us even closer to that goal. Add to that our free destination-specific activities written by travel and education specialists (great for families on the road!), and dream itineraries compiled by guidebook authors and other recognized city experts, and you have one of the best one-stop travel values on the Internet.
